Voodoo 400 - need to ground for static

    Hi,

Got my Voodo 400, tried both tunirgy TGY-930 and Futaba 8650 servos. Both when spinning on desk I can see the servo movement without stick movement. Like move down and then move back to the same position. The movement is more on Futaba...
So in flight I see the heli shaking and like rocking on flight...

I suspect it is static, but I have did as instruction to make sure the boom have contact to the boom case. ANd using voltmeter, it looks like I got good connectivity from tail case to boom case.

My question is do I need to ground the boom case to the black cable of my receiver or VBAR to ground the boom?

If not anyone else have problem with static on Voodoo ?

    Hi,

No there cannot be static discharges when everything is on the same potential. What you describe usually originates from vibrations.....

    Best regards

    Christian
P.S.: Das geht tiefer! Ooops, so tief doch nicht... Unbelehrbar!

      Christian,

Thanks for your response...I will look into virbration analysis.

Ok.....I finally isolated the issue by removing parts one at a time to figure out what is causing the virbration. Finally when I remove the main belt from Motor to 1st stage gear, and spinning up the servo now is rock stable and hold in one position. When the belt is back on the servo start to move up and down ....

I also remove the belt driving the tail as I did the test above....whether the tail belt is on or not , it does not matter. The part that influence it is having the main motor gelt on then issue appear , and if remove then no issue.

Note : I am using VBAR with futaba SBUS.

The problem now is how to resolve this issue ?

          Hi Jonathan,

I am not really an expert for vibration causes, but just an assumption: Maybe the vibs results from the motor. Do you have the possibility to try another one? Or to exchange the motor shaft?

            Siggi, thanks for your note.

I resolve the problem now with using my Futaba 9650 servos. It was having metal gears inside the servos, I change out one of the servo that seem to be having problem to plastic gears and all issue is gone. STill not sure why, but it work perfect ow with plastic gears.

Sounds strange, but anyhow. Important is that it works now.

              Have fun with you Voodoo!
